+++TEMPORARY PAGE +++ OUT NOW: ARSENAL - LOTUK
TRACKLISTING: Estupendo INFO: LOTUK – features a highly impressive cast of guests, highlighting not only the broad spectrum of ARSENAL’s interests but also of those who inspired their music. John Garcia, formerly of the influential Kyuss, is guest on two tracks, Diggin’ A Hole and Not A Man, while Seattle luminary Shawn Smith (of Brad, Satchel and Pigeonhead) brings his funk-inspired lament to the album’s title track. Elsewhere Mike Ladd (Ninja Tune) delivers a furious tirade on Turn Me Loose and longstanding Brazilian collaborator Mario Vitalino Dos Santos brings a glorious South American vibe to proceedings on Egun and Selvagem. LOTUK is far more than vain wish-fulfillment, however: ARSENAL’s desire to uncover new and magical voices led them to enigmatic Nashville chanteuse Cortney Tidwell, who contributes to Who We Are, while Scott Masson from Chicago indie popsters Office kicks things off on Estupendo. And though the final track may feature another hero of theirs, former Husker Du-legend Grant Hart, the results remain far from predictable, Hart reading from a mysterious but heartrending letter to a former lover. Like the album itself, it’s unexpected, compelling and utterly original. Further reflecting ARSENAL’s search to explore new territories, LOTUK – as with OUTSIDES before it – features a bonus DVD documenting a road trip across the US undertaken by Roan and Willemyns in late 2007 to meet some of their guests. Filmed and edited by Willemyns, it offers not only exclusive ARSENAL music but also intimate portraits of Shawn Smith, John Garcia, Cortney Tidwell and Grant Hart, all of whom share personal anecdotes and observations about their life. Whether they also shared more than a few drinks with our friends ARSENAL remains undocumented, but given everything that’s happened since that alcohol-fuelled night in Finland, one rather hopes they did... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHIKINKI - BRACE BRACE 1 Sunrise

STILL AVAILABLE: ARSENAL - DE POOLREIZIGERS ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ COMPUPHONIC - LIQUORICE ep A1 Liquorice ARSENAL - THE COMING EP Puerto Rican Gabriel Rios introduces Arsenal’s first single ‘The Coming’ from their second album ‘Outsides’ with mouthtricks only girls know how to properly interpret. His true coming into the track, however, is marked by an articulate flow of floating politically love-infected lyrics over hypnotically enthousiastic and ‘Cure-esque’ guitars. The track develops into an earcatching song, which will gently end its life in the braincells of all that’s worth remembering. The Idjut Boys deliver 3 great hypnotic dubby versions!!! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ARSENAL - SAUDADE EP Though the title ‘Saudade’ alludes to what Brazilians know as the deepest grief women can experience when husbands are at sea, this track reflects the moment of hope in their eyes when white sails mirror on the boarderline between sea and sky. The melancholic guitars mixed with dark bass synths accompany the hopeful Brazilian vocals and beats towards a truly new angle in electronic world beat. Portugese Ruth Da Costa takes us with Submissoa on a Balearic trip.
A1 Saudade (album version) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SHU QI NI DE TOU FA EP If you’ve never been scared of a track, this is your moment! The Leviathan in Midnight Mike has risen (again)! Sinister, dark and extremely well put together, this is a real masterpiece considering the colouring of the original Chinese sung track. A few lit-up choruses elevate the ensemble to unexpected Tibetan love plateaus only to re-plunge into the Leviathan’s sombre universe while…on the flipside Mr minimal Kraml-funk tightens his arrows and aims a good shot at the remix bull’s eye, Kung-Fu style! A fighter remix of ‘The Coming’, mean as a napalm machine! This one aims at sucking you out of all excess energy you might have accumulated until Friday knocks over your door. Beware!
